A large pale celadon jade stone. Carved as a double gourd box, surrounded by foliage, and young
gourds.

A moss green Jade, with some bright emerald inclusions. Carved as a Stork, with young,
amongst plants on which an insect is found. Making good use of a bright emerald inclusion.

great deal of undercutting is involved in this attractive group.

Tied Sack Handling Piece

A celadon pebble jade carving of a sack that is tied with a long ribbon, carved in relief, together
with a peony flower. A bat is on one side of the sack.

Oxen Water Dropper

A fine pale celadon jade water dropper figure of a reclining oxen with a cover carved as clouds and
the moon that is inscribed with a poem.

A fine handling piece of white jade with some russet markings. When viewed by turning this
piece around, and upside down, a number of images can be discovered:- lingzhi, pair of quail on
rocks, an old prunus tree, a dragon on a rock, and a mandarin duck.

Elephant & Boy Handling Piece

Very white nephrite carving of an elephant resting with its body curled around a small boy reaching
up to tickle the elephant's ear with a spray of lingzhi fungus. This is a fine small handling piece,
about the size of the average netsuke.

Horse & Landscape Archer's Ring

A pure white jade archer's ring carved in relief with a horse, in a continuous
mountainous landscape, that includes under the moon, a temple, a pine tree,
and a raised four section
seal that reads Dao li qian gang, which may be
translated as 'Daoism establishing sovereign power'.

An even spinage green nephrite, with black flecks, carved as a bowl with loose ring handles and a
chrysanthemum style base.

A mutton fat nephrite belt plaque undercut and well carved as storks and millet. Ming dynasty.

A deep rich dark brown chalcedony stone, with pale beige and almost white inclusions, brilliantly
carved as a reclining horse with a couple of monkeys. Very good use of the
colours, so that one
monkey is white, the other beige, and the horse is dark brown.

Lingzhi, Peach & Flower Vase & Cover

A clear rock crystal carved with lingzhi, peach, and a flower plus a sack. A duck, with a peach
branch in its beak, forms the cover for a vase with loose ring handles either side.

A good bright Coral carved as a figure of a young boy, carrying flowers on his back, with a basket
of more flowers at his feet.

A bright Turquoise, carved as a kneeling lady holding a fan in one hand and a flowering branch in
the other.

A large even coloured piece of Coral, carved as Guanyin, surrounded by a dragon and pearl
riding above the waves.

A red and white translucent carnelian carving, with attractive markings, in the form of a reclining
cow.

Sampan Below Rocky Cliffs Seal
H17
A finely carved Soapstone seal, with a small figure guiding a sampan through stormy seas with
crested waves, beneath a towering rocky cliff, with a gnarled tree clinging to the edge of
elaborately tiered rockwork extending around all four sides, inscribed Meng Yan xing shang
("For
Meng Yan's heartfelt appreciation''). The use of the differing colours in this work really is
masterly, the tree stands out in a dark russet colour, but even the figure's face is paler than his
body and the boat is another pale russet tone.

A carved Jadeite lavender vase, with loose ring handles, decorated in relief with a continuous
design of dragon and clouds. The cover carved as a dog of fo.

A celadon and deep russet Jade, carved as a chained vase, making good use of the
colour. The
lid, carved with a phoenix in flight, is linked by a fifteen section chain to the vase that is carved
with a flowering chrysanthemum spray.

Celadon jadeite chained vase with rope strap work and cover, with 28 links, hints of lavender and
apple green, well hollowed.

Chained Nephrite Vase & Cover

A pure white nephrite chained vase, well hollowed, of an archaic bronze shape with a curled
dragon on the cover. Another dragon with flowering prunus to which the (twenty section) chain
links to the cover.

Double Chained Jade Vase & Cover

An impressive double chained celadon green jadeite vase and cover. With dragon's head handles
suspending loose rings to which each chain having ten loose double links are
attached to the
cover. Well hollowed, and splashes of emerald green well used to carve dragons in high relief.
