Since
the late 1970s, Trudy and John Cohen lovingly collected
Chinese jade and hardstone pendants dating to the 18th
and 19th century, admiring them for the exquisite
workmanship and the quality of the natural stone
carefully selected by the master carver.
Now
celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary, they felt
it's time for others to enjoy these masterful pieces.
Bonhams is privileged to offer this unique collection in
Hong Kong on 5 May.
Asaph Hyman
Global
Head of Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art commented: "Each
of these pendants offers a world of its own. The
beholder is drawn into a world imbued with auspicious
symbolism and playful puns and rebuses drawn on the
natural and mythical, a window onto Chinese culture
and the timeless quality of Chinese lapidaries of the
Qing dynasty."
This
auction is part of a series of Asian Art sales, taking
place in London and Hong Kong on 5th May 2025.
